Hypertension & Kidney Diseases at University Medicine

University Medicine’s Division of Hypertension and Kidney Diseases sponsors a large outpatient practice with multiple locations throughout Rhode Island. We also provide inpatient services at Rhode Island Hospital, The Miriam Hospital, The VA, and Kent Hospital. Our doctors see patients at multiple dialysis units across Rhode Island and work closely with the Rhode Island Hospital Transplant division as well as The Hallett Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology ensuring comprehensive care for our patients.

The primary goal of the practice is superlative patient care however; we are also committed to combining excellent patient care with medical education and research devoted to the well-being of people with Kidney Disease and Hypertension. Our doctors have full-time academic appointments in the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and specialized training in renal disease. Patients are given the option to participate in a number of clinical research trials in kidney diseases and hypertension.

Our specialists diagnose and manage both common conditions and more complex diseases, including:

  • Acute and Chronic Kidney Disease
  • High Blood Pressure (also providing ambulatory blood pressure monitoring)
  • Proteinuria (protein in the urine)
  • Hematuria (blood in the urine)
